God is the opposite of disorder and chaos.

God desires that those who trust in Him experience peace.

“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Mark 1:15

The long-awaited Messiah was being revealed.

That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.

Mark 4:35-36

A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.

What does it take to shake my faith?

Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

Mark 4:38

Jesus is modeling that it is important to rest.

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

Mark 4:39

The sovereign Lord spoke and His creation immediately responded.

He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Mark 4:40

Fear comes from a lack of faith.

They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Mark 4:41

Be mindful when you notice God showing up in your life.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

You and I have the assurance of God’s presence in discouraging and unpleasant times.

In the midst of our chaos, God is right beside us.
